Position: Downtown Service Crew

Hours: 20-30 hours per week.

Job Description

Perform a variety of downtown and/or recreation construction, maintenance, grounds keeping, landscaping, repair, custodial, and labor activities involving various areas within the Downtown Development Authority’s District; to operate John Deere Gator and other power driven equipment and tools; to prepare and maintain event staging areas, municipal alleys, and right-of-ways; to guard against the abuse of municipal property by private persons; to assist City Staff with event set up and take-down; and to perform general labor, and related work as required.

Essential Duties/Requirements

  • Knowledge and experience with operating high-performance utility vehicles (John Deere Gator)
  • Knowledge and skill in customer service, speaking with residents, business, and property owners in a respectful manner.
  • Knowledge of the operation of trucks and other automotive and power-driven equipment and tools,
  • Ability to work independently and to be able to prioritize tasks in a sensible manner.
  • Promote events by distributing fliers, helping with social media, and putting together mass mailings.
  • Must be able to perform heavy manual labor under varying conditions with no weight restrictions,
  • Familiarity with streets and other locations in the City,
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job,
  • Mechanical aptitude,
  • Knowledge of custodial, building and grounds maintenance activities,
  • Knowledge of methods, materials and equipment used in building and grounds maintenance work.
  • Familiarity with recreation equipment and park facilities.

  • MUST HAVE THE FOLLOWING TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
    • High school diploma and/or GED.
    • Experience in performing a variety of labor, maintenance, construction and repair tasks.
    • Experience in performing building and grounds maintenance, repair and custodial activities.
