When violations are noticed within the City, it is the duty of all residents to report them as soon as possible. Although the City is patrolled frequently by the Code Enforcement Department, unreported violations have a lower chance of being corrected in a prompt manor.

When reporting a violation to the Code Enforcement please note the address or the cross streets or the address of the violation. Code Enforcement violations can be reported by email, or by calling (248) 557-2600 ext. 223, or by faxing to (248) 557-2602.

Violations are addressed in a confidential, friendly, and understanding way. Upon receiving a complaint, the department will verify that a problem does exist and notify the property owner to explain the problem and suggest possible solutions.

The property owner is then given time to take care of the violation. While most property owners comply after the first notification, those who don't may face enforcement action.
