Lathrup Village’s Downtown Development Authority (DDA) captured the Program on the Rise award during The Main Event program hosted by Oakland County Main Street. The awards presentation was held on May 9, 2019, at the Flagstar Strand Theatre for the Performing Arts in Pontiac.
The Lathrup Village DDA’s recognition highlighted the city’s flexible, business-friendly approach to helping establish Hortulus Garden Center – a pop-up flower market/retail space that attracts customers locally and from surrounding communities. The Hortulus Garden Center is owned and operated by Ed Blondin, who has successfully activated vacant space at the historic Annie Lathrup School, and created the kind of interest that downtowns seek.
