When are my taxes
issued and when are they due?
The summer taxes are issued July 1st and are due by August 31st.
The Winter taxes are issued December 1st and are due by February
14th.
Why are the Summer
taxes higher than the Winter Taxes?
The Summer Tax bill is the larger of the two, and contains 100% of the City, County General, State Education, Community College, Intermediate School taxes and 50% of the school tax bill.
What happens if
i don't pay my taxes by the due date?
Any unpaid balance that is paid after the due date is assessed
penalties and interest. All unpaid taxes are placed on the Oakland
County Delinquent Taq Roll on March 1st with additional penalties
and interest.
(Therefore, if you cannot pay all of your taxes,
you should pay as much as you can so that you only pay interest
and penalties on the unpaid portion).
Are there any
tax extension programs for Senior Citizen Residents?
There is a Summer Deferral Form available for residents who
are over 62 years of age and have less than $25,000 of household
income per year.
Call the City Treasurer's office for further
details.
What is my home assessment based on?
A field sheet is prepared by Oakland County Equalization who
does our assessing. These field sheets are available for review
at the Oakland County Equalization Offices.
