Patrol Division
The Patrol Division is the largest and certainly the most visible division of the Lathrup Village Police Department. The Patrol Division is comprised of full-time, part-time, and reserve officers. The Lathrup Village Police Patrol Division works 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. The Patrol Division's principal duties and responsibilities are to:
  • Represent a positive and professional image while maintaining a close relationship with the community
  • Promote trust, cooperation and respect between the residents and the police department
  • Conduct routine traffic law enforcement
  • Arrest criminal offenders and fugitives
  • Investigate and assist with traffic crashes
  • Give aid and information to all citizens as required

Detective Bureau
The Lathrup Village Police Detective Bureau is responsible for investigating incidents that require extended investigation beyond the initial report. The Detective Bureau works with all Police Divisions to solve crime and prosecute those responsible for offenses. 

Detectives conduct follow-up investigations of all criminal matters that occur in the City of Lathrup Village. The Detective Bureau works closely with the residents to reduce crime in our community. Lathrup Village Police detectives also work with other local as well as county, state, and federal law enforcement agencies to solve crimes in our community. Detective Michael Zang oversees the detective bureau.
 
Evidence Technicians
Detective Zang is the Lathrup Village Police Department evidence technician. Detective Zang is specially trained in photography, evidence collection, latent fingerprint collection and crime scene processing.
