After careful consideration, Consumers Energy has decided to postpone the start of this project until 2027. After additional conversations with the City, Consumers wants to avoid causing any unnecessary burden to the City or the impacted residents, particularly if they are unable to complete the work before winter hits.
The City will provide an updated notice in the new year when we have a clearer construction timeline for completion.

🚧 WORK NOTICE: GAS MAIN REPLACEMENT
Consumers Energy plans to begin a gas main replacement project on Lathrup Blvd., from 12 Mile Road to Glenwood, and on adjacent side streets, beginning October 26, 2026. The project is expected to continue through mid-December.
What residents should know:
-Traffic: Consumers Energy is required to maintain traffic throughout the project. However, please be patient and use caution as workers and construction equipment will be in the area. They will have barricades on the street indicating the road is closed and open to local traffic only.
-Temporary Restoration: Temporary pavement restoration is expected within two weeks of the project's completion.
-Final Restoration: Permanent restoration is scheduled to take place in the spring of 2027.
-Resident Notifications: Consumers Energy has indicated that they have sent notices to impacted properties.
We appreciate everyone's patience and cooperation as this necessary utility work is completed. Please plan accordingly and use caution when traveling through the work zone.

The Department of Public Services anticipates beginning curbside leaf pickup on Monday, October 19, with collection continuing through early December, weather permitting.
To help ensure your leaves are collected:
• Place leaf piles as close to the edge of the street as possible, think higher, not wider, while keeping two-way traffic open.
• Do NOT place leaves in drainage ditches. Crews will not rake out ditches.
• Residents on Santa Barbara and Bloomfield should place leaf piles along adjacent side streets.
• Keep trash, pet waste, twigs, branches, grass clippings, flowers and other yard waste out of leaf piles. Contaminated piles will be skipped.
• Keep leaf piles several feet away from garbage cans and other refuse.
• Do NOT park vehicles on or near leaf piles.
• Expect some “leaf dust," a normal by-product of the collection process.
• Please be patient! Weather affects the schedule, and wet or windy conditions can slow collection.
• Prefer bags? Yard waste bags may still be used for leaves during the season.
• If you use a landscaping company, please share these guidelines with them.
