Oakland County Awards City of Lathrup Village $21,356 for Emergency Access Gate Installation

Lathrup Village, MI – May 27, 2025 – The City of Lathrup Village is pleased to announce that it has been awarded $21,356 from Oakland County through the 2025 Local Road Improvement Program (LRIP). This funding will support the installation of a siren-activated gate on San Jose Boulevard, enhancing emergency response access and improving public safety in the community.

The gate will be installed between Evergreen Road and San Jose Court and will be accessible only to authorized emergency vehicles. Activated by a siren signal, the gate will allow for faster and more efficient emergency response times while maintaining traffic control and neighborhood security.

“We are grateful to Oakland County for their continued investment in local infrastructure and public safety,” said Mike Greene, City Administrator for Lathrup Village. “This project will provide our first responders with improved access while preserving the residential character of the area.”

The Local Road Improvement Program is administered by the Oakland County Board of Commissioners and is designed to assist local municipalities with road projects that enhance safety, access, and quality of life. The siren-activated gate project aligns with the City’s broader goals of strengthening infrastructure and emergency preparedness.

Construction is expected to begin later this year, with completion anticipated by late 2025.
