Lathrup Village Awarded $28,000 Grant from MEDC for Master Plan Update

LATHRUP VILLAGE, MI — The City of Lathrup Village is proud to announce that it has been awarded $28,000 through the Michigan Economic Development Corporation’s (MEDC) Redevelopment Ready Communities (RRC) Technical Assistance grant program. This funding will support the City’s efforts to update its Master Plan — a foundational document that guides land use, development, and investment over the next 10 to 20 years.

The updated Master Plan will focus on creating a shared vision for the future of Lathrup Village that reflects community priorities and positions the city for long-term economic vitality, sustainability, and livability. Public input and engagement will be central to the planning process, ensuring that the final plan aligns with the needs of residents, businesses, and stakeholders.

“This grant represents a significant step forward in our ongoing efforts to promote smart growth and enhance the quality of life in Lathrup Village,” said Community & Economic Development Director Austin Colson. “We’re grateful to the MEDC for supporting our vision and investing in our community’s future.”

As an engaged Redevelopment Ready Community, Lathrup Village continues to prioritize transparency, predictability, and efficiency in its planning and development practices. The Master Plan update is expected to begin this fall, with opportunities for community engagement throughout the process.

Information about the Master Plan update and how to get involved will be available at www.lathrupvillage.org once the process is underway.
