Lathrup Village City Clerk Honored with Michigan Fair Elections Institute “Sunlight Award”

LATHRUP VILLAGE, MI – The City of Lathrup Village is proud to announce that City Clerk Alisa Emanuel has been recognized by the Michigan Fair Elections Institute (MFEI) with its Sunlight Award for her outstanding dedication and exemplary service in maintaining accurate and transparent voter registration records.

The MFEI Sunlight Award honors municipal and township clerks across Michigan who demonstrate exceptional responsiveness and cooperation in ensuring the integrity of the state’s voter rolls. Clerk Emanuel was recognized as a Responsive Advocate for her proactive efforts in identifying and resolving redundant voter registrations in the state’s Qualified Voter File (QVF).

“Clean and accurate voter records are essential to preserving public confidence in our elections,” said Emanuel. “This award reflects our ongoing commitment to transparency and to upholding the highest standards of election administration for the residents of Lathrup Village.”

According to MFEI, an independent investigation earlier this year identified more than 10,000 potential duplicate voter registrations statewide. The City of Lathrup Village was among the jurisdictions that responded quickly and effectively, contributing to a statewide reduction of redundancies by an average of 86% in participating communities.

The Sunlight Award is named in honor of U.S. Supreme Court Justice Louis D. Brandeis’s famous assertion that “sunlight is the best of disinfectants,” underscoring the importance of openness and accountability in public service.

The City extends its congratulations to Clerk Emanuel for this well-deserved recognition and her continued dedication to serving the people of Lathrup Village with integrity and professionalism.
