As we begin Black History Month, the City of Lathrup Village would like to recognize our current elected African American leaders who have given their valuable time and energy toward making Lathrup Village the great City that it is.
Kelly Garrett, the City’s first African American Mayor, and Jalen Jennings have served honorably on City Council for the last 12 and six years, respectively.
Their leadership, integrity, and commitment have set a stellar example for all to follow.
In addition, the City would also like to recognize all of the former African American council members and current/past board members and employees for their outstanding contributions to Lathrup Village.
The community is invited to help us celebrate Black History Month by attending the Black History Discussion Panel on Thursday, February 26th from 6 to 9 pm in the Community Room.
We hope to see you there.
