Due to the significant tree and branch damage caused by the storms that impacted Southeast Michigan on September 3 and 4, the City of Lathrup Village has declared a chipping emergency.
The City’s contractor, Fontenot, will make one loop through the City beginning Monday, September 14.
📅 DEADLINE: Brush must be placed at the street by 7:00 AM on Monday, September 14.
7:00 AM is the placement deadline. Fontenot may begin collecting at any time after 7:00 AM and will proceed through the City over the course of the day(s) needed to complete its one loop. Residents should not wait until they see the truck approaching their neighborhood to place their brush at the curb.
🌿 Proper Brush Placement
To ensure your storm debris can be collected:
Place brush and branches in the street right-of-way, at the edge of your property.
Keep brush separate from other materials, including leaves, grass, garbage, and other yard waste.
Place branches in a neat pile, with the blunt/cut ends of branches facing the street.
Limbs and branches should be less than 6 inches in diameter to ensure they can be safely processed through the chipper.
Do not place brush in the roadway or block sidewalks, fire hydrants, drainage areas, or access to driveways.
Brush should be storm-related tree and branch debris suitable for mechanical chipping.
Do not include logs, stumps, lumber, construction materials, trash, or other non-chippable materials.
🚛 Fontenot will make ONE pass through the City. Crews will not return to properties where brush was placed after they have completed their loop.
Please have all eligible storm-related brush properly placed at the street no later than 7:00 AM on September 14.
Thank you for your cooperation as the City responds to the damage from these storms.
